Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ketamine Integration group therapy like?
Group therapy offers a supportive environment where individuals share experiences and learn from each other. It’s facilitated by a psychotherapist who guides the conversation and ensures a safe space for all participants. We also:
What are the group details?
We offer two times -- Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:15pm, and Fridays from noon - 1:15pm (with more times likely soon!). As we have set times for our group sessions, we recommend joining the group that best fits your schedule. Sessions last 1 hour and 15 minutes, and regular attendance is encouraged to maintain continuity and group cohesion. The sessions are on a secure telehealth platform. Of course, punctuality is important to respect everyone’s time.
What is the role of the psychotherapist and the separate ketamine provider?
We lead the group therapy sessions, focusing on mental and emotional preparation and integration. The separate ketamine provider administers or prescribes the medical treatment in a clinical setting at a different time from our group sessions. Everyone works together to help you make meaningful change.
Where do we meet and what do I need?
The group meets virtually on a secure Zoom video call. For virtual sessions, you’ll need a computer or device with internet access, a camera, and a microphone for participating in Zoom calls. For participants using a smartphone or tablet, we request that participants place it in a stable location as motion may cause discomfort for other clients.
What is ketamine and what are its benefits?
Ketamine is a medication initially developed as an anesthetic, now widely recognized for its rapid-acting antidepressant effects. It’s particularly beneficial for individuals with treatment-resistant depression, offering relief when traditional medications have been ineffective. Beyond depression, ketamine has shown promise in treating symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and certain addictions, providing rapid symptom relief and aiding in recovery. Administered under professional supervision, ketamine can activate positive changes in brain function, alleviate symptoms, and potentially reduce suicidality. Its safety profile is well-established in a clinical setting, with minimal side effects. The benefits of ketamine, especially when combined with psychotherapy, include the promotion of new neural connections, improved mood, cognition, and overall well-being, making it a valuable tool in comprehensive mental health treatment plans.
How is ketamine administered and how can I find a provider?
Ketamine is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, nasally, or as a lozenge, depending on the clinical setting and treatment plan. If you do not yet have a provider, you can consult with a healthcare professional, search for certified clinics specializing in ketamine therapy, or simply ask us when you fill out our contact form!
What are the costs involved, and is insurance accepted?
The cost is $50 per session. We are out of network with insurances, but are happy to send regular superbills up to once per month for you to be able to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
